We have completed several projects, including sponsorship of the Baileys Harbor Community Mural, on the side of Nelson’s Shopping Center just south of the Town Marina, and publishing Historic Baileys Harbor, a tour of significant historic sites in Baileys Harbor.

As part of our presence in the Toft House, a semi-permanent exhibit of an authentic pioneer bedroom has been created on the second floor. The Historical Society also maintains changing exhibits in display cases outside the Baileys Harbor Library and on the first floor of the Toft House.

A program on Albert Zahn's folk art by Margaret Anderas of the Milwaukee Art Museum, together with a tour of the Bradley folk art collection was a highlight of 2014.

2014 may also be noted as the year BHHS sponsored the creation of a stunning Community Quilt and some other items which were raffled off as a fundraiser for the society.

Creating old-fashioned Christmas ornaments at the Community Association Tree-Lighting Party is a much anticipated annual event.

We are still at work on the Barn Project, which involves gathering pictures and information on barns throughout the Baileys Harbor Township. We are establishing a photographic archive of antique and vintage barns with background information on individual barns.

A database of the town cemetery is in the works, and we hope to make that available online.

The Toft House benefitted from our efforts in 2017. The gardens in front of the building had been sadly neglected, and the Town of Baileys Harbor joined BHHS in a general refurbishing. It took a lot of hard work to remove all weeds and years of plants growing wild, as well as resetting all the stones around the beds. Once that was completed, a variety of plants appropriate to the setting were installed. The before and after pictures on the left speak for themselves!

The Toft House interior display space was also improved with the installation of secure, lighted, display cabinets.
